Frequently Asked Questions

We gathered the answers to some popular questions below. If you can’t find your question below feel free to contact us via rpl-events@eecs.kth.se, and we’ll be happy to help.

What is the registration fee for the summer school?

There is no fee for the summer school. RPL covers the expenses of the summer school participants, including accommodation, meals and refreshments from dinner on 9 June, to midday 14 June, as well as all the materials and activities in the course of the event.

Can I join the summer school late or leave early?

No. As RPL is sponsoring all expenses for the summer school and spots are limited we wish to give the opportunity to those who can benefit the most from the programme.

Can I visit Stockholm during the summer school?

The main programme of summer school consists of full-day events (breakfast to dinner) and the summer school venue is located about an hour outside of Stockholm city with inconvenient public transport connections. So take the opportunity to enjoy the facilities at the resort (e.g. spa, swimming pool, pub) at your free time during the summer school.

If you’re interested in visiting the attractions in Stockholm we recommend that you arrange for a longer stay on your own before or after the summer school.

Is there a travel grant for flights to/from Sweden?

We do not offer any travel grants.

When and where does the summer school take place?

Summer school’s official kick-off dinner takes place on Sunday 9 June in Stockholm city, where overnight lodging is arranged for all external participants at Elite Hotel Arcadia (Körsbärsvägen 1, 114 23 Stockholm).

Summer school’s main programme takes place at Happy Tammsvik resort (Ådövägen 5, 197 91 Bro), starting in the morning of Monday 10 June, ending in the afternoon of Friday 14 June.

Transport from Elite Hotel Arcadia to Happy Tammsvik is arrange for by RPL in the morning of Monday 10 June.

What’s the weather like in Stockholm in June?

Temperature is likely to be somewhere between 10-20°C. So it can be warm and sunny, nice for a refreshing swim at the lake, but also possibly rainy with cold winds. Come prepared for both (bring swimsuit as well as rain jacket).

If you’re not used to Scandinavian summers, the sun sets quite late and rises quite early in June. So bring a sleep mask if you have trouble sleeping.

Will I need a visa for entry to Sweden?

Please check the visa requirements for your nationality with the relevant authorities.

If you need an official invitation letter for your visa application, please email us with the following information after you receive the confirmation of acceptance to the summer school:

  • Name on passport
  • Date of birth
  • Passport number
  • Country of issue

When will I know if I have been accepted to the summer school?

The application deadline for the summer school is March 13, AoE. Due to the high volume of applications already received, our selection process will require careful consideration. Our goal is to reach out to all applicants within two to three weeks following the deadline to provide updates on their application status.

While we understand the eagerness for updates, we kindly request patience during our thorough review process. Your cooperation in allowing us to prioritise the review process over individual email inquiries is sincerely appreciated as it enables us to focus on ensuring a fair and comprehensive evaluation of all applications. Thank you for your understanding.

Do I need to book my own accommodation?

All admitted participants are provided with accommodation at the summer school venue 9-14 June. You don’t need to worry about the booking for these dates as RPL handles them centrally. However, RPL does not cover accommodation for extra nights. Should you wish to arrive in Stockholm earlier or leave on a later date you need to arrange your own accommodation.

Do I have to book my own transport?

You are responsible for arranging your own transport to/from Stockholm, as well as local transport within Stockholm up until arrival at the starting venue of the summer school.

After the official end of the summer school we arrange for transportation to the airport, as well as back to Stockholm city should you wish to explore Stockholm on your own.

What time do I need to be present at the starting venue?

We recommend that you arrive and check-in at Elite Hotel Arcadia latest by 15:00 on Sunday 9 June. That gives you enough time to prepare for the kick-off dinner. More information on the kick-off dinner will be provided soon.
